Funerals

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.  Do you believe this?” (John 11: 25-26).

A Christian’s death is not just a departure from this life, but also a passage to the next because through baptism they are united with the risen Christ.  Full of hope in the resurrection, we welcome enquiries from bereaved families about celebrating the funeral of a loved one here at St Dominic’s.  We encourage you to make contact with the parish office to begin making the necessary arrangements.  A priest will be able to consult with the family about specific arrangements and also attend the cemetery (or crematorium with burial of the ashes at a later time).

O God, who have set a limit to this present life

so as to open up an entry into eternity,

we humbly beseech you,

that by the grace of your mercy

you may command the names of your servants

to be inscribed in the book of life.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God, for ever and ever.

Our Lady, Queen of all saints, pray for us.

St Dominic, our father, pray for us.
